SHABBY CHIC SLIPCOVERS

As you may or may not know already, Shabby Chic is no more.  :-(  I am sad about that because I always loved her fabrics and her style.  I do not doubt for a minute, though, that Rachel Ashwell will be back, better than ever, in the not-too-distant future.

I did these slipcovers a couple of years ago.  It is not actually Shabby Chic fabric but was made from the duvet covers that Rachel designed for Target.  Figuring out how much fabric I need to make a slipcover is rather easy.  Figuring out how many duvet covers to have my client purchase is not.  I think, in the end, she bought 10 covers.
You can't really tell from this photo, but this sofa is huge.  It is 120" across the back!  I did a green/white gingham contrast welting and, instead of welting at the top of the skirt, I did a 1/2" ruffle.
This is a close up view of the small ruffle on the side pillows.  We talked about doing the ruffle on all the cushions, but decided that would have been too much.  Sometimes less definitely is more.

I love this fabric, I to find myself saying it is easier/cheaper to buy a shower curtain or a duvet set than figure out yardage. I love what you did it is gorgeous!

XOXO,
Sheila

I'm so glad you found your way over to my place. I love meeting new people. I love to sew too. There is no way the slipcovers I make for myself come close to this. It's wonderful. Thank you for the sweet message you left for me tonight.

What a "fun" project. I'm sure it was oodles of work, but the result was lovely and (I'm sure) cheaper than buying the very lovely, but very high end Shabby Chic fabric off the bolt. High fives for clever thinking!

You are amazing, I love your work. Especially the white sofa with the adorable little buttons in the back. We need to talk.

Wow! You did an amazing job!

I slipcovered my couch and loveseat and hated every minute of it! So I do, oh so, appreciate all the work it takes to make one of these beauties!

You are soooo talented! I have been wanting to slipcover my grandmothers vanity chair, but have not had the courage to as of yet... I wish I could afford for you to come up and do all of my furniture!
