OUTDOOR LIVING IN CALIFORNIA

One of the nicest things about living in Southern California is that all year long we can use our outdoor spaces as additional rooms.  This is the backyard of a client in La Jolla.  Notice the table and chairs.  Kind of boring, huh?  Keep scrolling and you'll see what an improvement occurred today.
When she closes all the panels, she creates a cozy space.
Close up detail of the mitered corners.  This fabric is a sheer Sunbrella and is completely washable, either by removing the draperies or simply hosing it down.
I made this table skirt on Saturday.  It is oil cloth and just as the draperies, weather-proof.  And what a difference it makes in the whole 'room'.
I made a hole in the middle so that an umbrella can be used.  I have to say that sewing on this fabric was a big, fat pain.  It has no give and have you ever tried ironing plastic without melting it?  Well, in the end, I think it was worth it.  It looks really good and my client was thrilled.
